You may think that the idea of repurposing your old content is totally cheating, but I promise you it is not! You may not be creating something new but don’t be afraid to take old content and share it again and again. Normally when you create content, you share it right then and there and you usually end up forgetting about it.
You are constantly thinking about creating new content while your old blog posts just sit on your site. Your old content is still relevant for your readers and I promise they would love reading it!
Don’t be afraid to share it over and over again!
1. Repurpose
Ever write a blog post and think how good this is for your readers? Well, sometimes you can take old blogs and create smaller pieces of content with them. You can always take certain pieces of a blog post and turn them into a social media post with a link to the full post. It’s a great way to share your blog posts with readers who may have missed that post. It’s also great for anyone who may follow your social media platforms but is not following your blog to get to know more about you. You can give them a great piece of advice and turn them into a lifetime reader!
You can repurpose more than just your blog posts. Look at your social media platforms. Are you sharing different content on each platform? You can always repurpose different content you have share and reshare on a different platform. For instance, share that Instagram photo on a new Facebook post. Not all of your followers will be following you on every platform. With all the new algorithms, even if they are following you everywhere there is a good chance that they may have missed that post!
2. Update
The more you create content, the better you become at it. As you keep writing, you will become better and you will learn more about the topics as you go. Check back to some of your older posts and re-read them. Is the content still up to date and relevant? If any of your blog posts are outdated, don’t be afraid to update them and edit them to become more relevant for today. Your writing style has most likely changed a bit since you started and there is nothing wrong with giving it a refresh. Once you have updated your post, share away!
Being able to update old posts is a great way to repurpose old content. You may not be creating anything new but you are still sending readers to your website.
3. Share Across Platforms
One of the best parts about social media these days is the amazing reach you can get! Don’t be afraid to share your content throughout all of your platforms. You can always customize the captions and photos to fit the platform a bit better. There are so many people on social media these days and it’s a slim chance that they are following you on every platform. You don’t want anyone to miss your awesome content so be sure to share across the board! You don’t have to share each piece of content at the same time on each platform, you can always schedule it for different days and times to switch it up a bit.
4. Go More In Depth
Ever written a blog post that you feel like you can talk about forever? If you have any blog posts that seem to be ultra long and not getting enough traction, think about breaking them into two separate posts! You can always share a part 1 and a part 2 to keep readers excited for the next post. It’s a great way to break up any posts that are too long. Any posts that are too long are sure to be filled with lots of goodies that your readers would benefit from but sometimes long posts can scare off a reader.
When you are a blogger, creating content is something that you do often! You create so much good content there is no shame in re-sharing over time. You still want to bring attention to your older posts because your readers can really benefit from it, still to this day. What is your favorite way to repurpose old content?
