When it comes to blogging, I love finding out about new tools and apps to help me get more done and be more productive. I’ve put together a list of some awesome apps and tools that will help you be more productive in your day to day life. These tools will help you put out as much content and the best content that you can! What’s better than that?!
WriteRoom
When you have a specific amount of time to work with, it is important to batch write as much as you can! Distractions can absolutely mess with your productivity so I love using apps that cut out those types of distractions on my computer. WriteRoom is perfect for cutting out those annoying distractions and get down to writing! If you are someone who can just open a document and start typing away, that is awesome! There are so many different tools out there that you can use to allow you to cut out annoying distractions and just write. Another popular one is ZenWriter. Find something that works well for you, whether that is just putting in headphones and opening up a word document or using a writing app like this!
Trello
Trello is great for keeping your to-do list and ideas organized. You can create different boards with tasks, ideas, checklists and more. If you have a team or you are collaborating on a blog with someone, you can share that specific board with them. It’s a great organizational tool and can be easily customized to your needs.
Forest
Forest is one of my time management apps! It is designed to keep you off of your phone for a certain amount of time which essentially will keep you from getting distracted. You can set the timer to 5 minute intervals which is great if you have a hard time staying off your phone. You can start in smaller amounts of time and work your way up. Once your time is up, a tree is planted in your forest. If you exit the app before the timer is completed, the tree will die. The more trees you get, you start earning coins which will allow you to plant real trees!
Also note that they have both phone apps and a Chrome extension, so if you find yourself distracted on the computer, you can also give their Chrome Extension a try!
Grammarly
Editing can be a pain and if you don’t absolutely love doing it, Grammarly is a great tool to help you! Grammarly essentially is an online tool to help you proofread and edit your writing. It will help you with sentence structure, spelling, grammar, and the best part? You can download it as a plugin for your web browser! And it doesn’t help just with blog posts, but it’s also a valuable tool to have to proofread your inbox! You don’t want to be sending pitches around that have typos in them, do you?
Dropbox
If you are using a lot of different files, Dropbox is awesome for storing everything! Not only can you share folders and files with others but you can access it from anywhere. It’s great for keeping your files organized because you can keep them in different folders so if you have to search for anything, it makes it so much easier. There is a free version as well as different paid versions. It all goes off of how much space you need. If Dropbox isn’t your thing, you can do a similar thing with Google Drive! I always encourage you to back up your files on some type of cloud storage, you never know when your trusty laptop could go missing or have water spill on it.
LastPass
In today’s world, there are so many different passwords and password requirements that it can be hard to remember each one. There is nothing worse than having to log into a website and you have no idea what the password is. LastPass stores all your passwords for you and stores them in your account. It even has a feature that will help you create safer passwords. If you have a team, you can share passwords with them as well.
This software has saved me so much time since I’ve installed it! Because I have a few email addresses and many passwords, trying them all to have access to just one website was tedious. I can easily say that I save at least an hour a week by using LastPass instead of my brain when logging into accounts!
These are just a few of my favorite apps and tools to use to keep me from getting distracted and to stay on track with my goals. As a blogger, it’s easy to get sidetracked with all of your ideas and tasks to do. Find a few tools that you love to start with and I promise you will be so amazed by how productive you become!
