When it comes to writing your blog, you can easily get overwhelmed and spread yourself too thin. Before you know it, you haven’t written anything in weeks. Trying to focus on all the wrong things will leave you confused and frustrated. You want to make sure that you are focusing on the things that will help you grow your blog and get your content in front of the right audience.
Write quality content
This may seem like a no-brainer but writing quality content is so important. Make sure that you are giving your audience the best content that you can. Don’t just write something just to write something. Think about the types of topics that your audience really loves and can benefit from. Write them all down and start planning out blog posts around those topic ideas. Writing good quality content will not only make you proud to hit that publish button but you can also share those blog posts again and again! Make sure that you are staying consistent with your blog schedule so that your audience can expect when to see your next blog post. Writing good content will keep your followers coming back for more and will ultimately grow your blog over time.
Have a cohesive branding
When it comes to the design of your blog posts, make sure that you are staying on brand and everything is cohesive. Using the same style fonts and colors, again and again, will ensure that your followers will recognize your posts. They can catch a quick glimpse of your post and know immediately that it was written by you from your branding alone. Having cohesive branding also keeps everything clean and consistent. If you are constantly changing up your branding it may confuse your audience.
Use Pinterest to its full potential
Pinterest is a great platform to share your blog posts. Unlike other social media platforms, Pinterest is more like a search engine than a social platform. Many Pinterest users are searching the platform just like they are searching Google. Writing an enticing description and filling it with keywords with not only help users find your blog post but encourage them to click and save your post. Leaving the description empty will only hurt your chances of being found.
Not only should you be thinking about what to write but think about what the image should look like. Is the photo you are using on brand? Is it enticing? Think about what you really want it to look like and stay cohesive throughout your pins. You can absolutely test out a few different style pins to see which style does better over others. Don’t be afraid to pin your blog posts on a few different boards! You want to make sure that you are getting your posts in front of the biggest audience as possible. You are creating great content and want to make sure your audience can benefit from it.

Focus on SEO
You’ve probably heard about search engine optimization at one point or another. If you want to grow your blog, focusing on search engine optimization is important for getting your blog found on Google searches. It may seem time-consuming, but taking the time to consistently research keywords will only benefit you. Keywords will not only help your blog grow but is a great way to see what your audience is searching for. Knowing what they are interested in and searching for will help you come up with what to write about next.
Build your email list
When it comes to growing your blog quickly, your email list is so important! Not only can you include your latest blog post links in each newsletter but you can even promote your newsletter in your blog posts. You may find that the more you focus on growing your list, your blog following will grow as well. As people fall in love with you and your content, they are going to want to read everything they can from you.
You can always share your blog posts on social media but I highly recommend focusing on the growth on your list over the growth of your social media followers. Your email list is something that you own forever. Social media can change overnight and you don’t want to ruin all of the hard work you have put in.
These are only a few ways that you can focus on growing your blog without spreading yourself too thin. What are your favorite ways to promote your blog?
Great content. I will work on Pinterest descriptions. Do you have an article on building up social media following? I suffer greatly there. ❤
Thanks Kash!
Not at the moment, no. It’s not my specialty either, ha! Maybe one day I’ll crack the code and report back 😉
Great tips! I’m feeling very frustrated with my progress and I’m tempted to just give up. I feel like I’m trying to do everything and not doing any of it well. Thanks for the reminder to focus on what’s truly important.
You can do this, Rebecca!
Definitely take some time to figure out what your priorities are, what’s been working for you, what you find enjoyable, etc. And change your focus according to that 🙂 Good luck!
