How to publish your first blog post

Congrats, you’re ready to write your first post!

This is what you created your blog for, so now that you’ve picked a theme and know how it works a bit, it’s time to put some words down and get some content out.

First, log into your admin dashboard.

Go to Posts > Add New.

That’s where you start typing! If you’re not using the new Gutenberg editor, I definitely recommend giving it a shot. It makes styling your content a lot easier than the Classic Editor, so you won’t have to pull your hairs out to center a button.

Here’s what your Gutenberg editor looks like:

You’ll find all of your settings on the right. That’s where you can select (or create!) a category for your post, and add the appropriate tags. You’ll also be able to control the URL of your post, as well as a custom excerpt.

You’ll also be able to add all kinds of content, like buttons and images and videos by clicking the small + button as you hover over the editor.

Go ahead and give it a try!

Honestly, it takes a bit of time to play with it and get used to it, but I believe you’ll get the hang of it 😉

Once you’re ready, hit the “Publish” button in the top right corner and your post will show on your blog page!
