As a new blogger, affiliate marketing can seem so intimidating and overwhelming. But, affiliate marketing can be so awesome for new bloggers! It’s a great way to recommend the products that you use and love and make money at the same time. It may seem scary when you start but as you go it will get easier. The best part about affiliate marketing is that you can treat it like passive income. You can keep those blog posts up forever and reshare them over and over again. You may be surprised that you are making money off of that post years down the road!
You may be asking yourself, what the heck is affiliate marketing? Well, the easiest way to explain is that you share a specific link to a product you are using and loving and if someone clicks on that link and makes a purchase – you earn a commision. How easy is that? There are a few different ways that you can earn money. Some affiliates will give you a percentage of the sale, a commision per lead, or a fixed amount. Be sure to check out the details before signing up and promoting.
If you are feeling lost when it comes to affiliate marketing, just know that you are not alone. I promise it’s not as scary as it may seem. I wanted to share a few of my favorite sites that you can join as an affiliate and start promoting the products that you actually use on a daily basis. If there are certain products that you know you love, look into their website and see if they offer an affiliate program. I don’t recommend joining every single affiliate marketing program out there because your readers will be able to tell. Just be real and honest with your readers and promote the products and services that you actually use and love. Here are a few of my absolute favorites.
Amazon
Who doesn’t use Amazon these days? They have literally everything that you can ever imagine and they ship worldwide. Whether you are writing about gift guides or just your new favorite office supplies, you can absolutely use Amazon affiliate links. They have everything you could ever imagine and they are a well-trusted company. They have a few different tiers of percentages per product categories, so some products might give you a bigger commission than other. Also, you can only make money from purchases on the country website you signed up for. So check where your readers are coming from, and sign up for those websites!

Hosting Site
Wherever you choose to host your site, you should absolutely become an affiliate with them. When picking out your hosting website, be sure to do your research and make sure you are choosing a company that works best for you and your blog, and most of them have affiliate programs. Down the road, if you ever decide to help other bloggers get started, you can always recommend your favorite hosting company! (Psst, my favorite one is SiteGround, they’re absolutely amazing!)
WordPress Themes
Another easy one, if you plan on sharing how you started your blog! If you bought a premade WordPress theme and loved it, why not share the love! Most companies will have an affiliate program in place. As a blogger myself, I love seeing what products fellow bloggers are using and loving. I find that I tend to trust blogger reviews a lot more than regular reviews, so it’s definitely a great way to help your readers in their buying process.
Did you know that Code + Coconut has an affiliate program? If you’ve used our themes and loved them, or just think they would be a great fit for your readers, we offer a great commission rate and monthly payments without a minimum. Want to learn more?
